Description

Honey bees are the most commonly used pollinators in agriculture. Still, their ability to forage at great distances can result in fewer foragers in the field, unwanted cross-pollination between fields and lowered seed purity. This presentation will cover: (1)the impact of nutrition on honey bee foraging behavior, (2) the potential of supplemental in-hive feeding for reducing foraging distance, (3) the impact of hive weight on foraging activity, and (4) the use of alternative pollinators in the vegetable seed.
